This picks up right where we left off. Dan Scott Motors is on fire! Dan is most certainly dead.

image
Peyton has to wear a wig. Haha.
image
Peyton was scared to go home alone so she asked Luke to come with her.
image
Lucas confides in Peyton that he has just done something that he can’t undo. Dun Dun dun.
image
Haley wants to come home. No, they never say how she knew he was at Casa de Scott. Nathan let’s Haley know she has some bad timing. Deb is saying they have to go, she’s just received a phone call about Dan. She tells Haley to come along. It’s weird because they redid the scene. Deb was upstairs looking out the window when Haley came to the door, but in this one she takes a call downstairs while Nathan opens the door. Hmmm…wonder what else they will change!
image
They get to the dealership and there’s actually a fire department in Tree Hill! They can’t believe their eyes. Haley and Nathan instinctively hold hands while a first responder goes to get Dan. To I’m sure everyone’s disappointment…
image
Dan is alive. LOOK at that arm! Imagine having to wait all summer for that reveal. It was agony. AGONY!
image
No. No. No. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
image
3 months later…Lucas is waiting at the airport with flowers. Brooke mistakenly thinks Lucas is there for her, but he’s actually there for his mom. Awkward!
image
Dan is ransacking Nathan’s room for the Annulment papers. Deb reminds him that the doctor said the burns will itch if Dan gets agitated. Haha. She thinks that maybe he’s just nervous about going back to work. The thought of it brings on a gruesome flashback….

image

image
Then he tells her about a dream he had where his arm was on fire. Everyone screams what a missed opportunity to not have his pants on fire! His dream also consists of him passing out and falling on the floor even though we saw him melting and getting blazed over with fire while in his chair! Innyway, he says he remembers drinking, passing out, and waking up outside. That’s all.
image
Deb says Nathan will be home soon. Dan wants to know which home…Casa de Scott or with Haley. As her name leaves his lips his burns start to itch. Dan, don’t scratch, you’ll make it worse!
image
Nathan is still at High Flyers and his friend hands him a letter that just came for him. The friend thinks it’s from a girl because it smells like perfume. The reception of this letter is IMPORTANT! Nathan stares at the envelope and flashes back to the night of the fire…
image
Haley comes in to tell Nathan that Deb is staying at the hospital with Dan and said she could use the guest room. Nathan wants to know why Haley is back, forgetting that she mentioned she wanted to come home earlier. Haley says she’s done with the tour and they wanted her to be a solo artist and record but she’s not into that right now. He says he’s going to High Flyers. Haley thinks that’s great because he deserves to do what makes him happy. Nathan is disappointed at her level of maturity and must have forgotten that she ALWAYS supported his going to HF. Haley tries to make it clear to him that while she loved touring she never loved it as much as she loves him and her heart was always with him in Tree Hill. He says that’s not going to work, he’s still going to High Flyers. Ooookay, she already said cool you dum dum. He’s so f’ing petty! He then adds that unlike her he’s taking his heart with him.
image
Happy that he’s landed another crushing blow, he turns away from her. She’s so heartbroken that she can’t even speak and she leaves the room. Poor Haley. Sad face.

Lucas went to see Peyton before he went to see Brooke. This guy. He asks Brooke if she’s talking to him and she says yes, so he walks in and gives her flowers from the neighbor’s yard. They have a quick chat about their summer. Small talk. He apologizes for laying down an I wanna be with you bomb right before she left for California. She says that’s cool, she just wants to be friends. She’s actually been thinking that they could date in a nonexclusive manner. Lucas thinks this is a genius idea. They are both kidding themselves, they are two of the most sensitive people I know. There’s no way they can handle a nonexclusive relationship. NO WAY!
image
Peyton flashes back to a conversation she had with Lucas about how they’ve had a tough year and they stopped hanging out. They are both glad that they are hanging out again, especially given their history. Lucas says, Yeah, that’s always going to be here, you and me. That’s IMPORTANT! She also thinks about when her dad changed and she was totally ok with that. What she wasn’t ok with is neither one of them told her she’s ADOPTED! New artwork time! Well, I don’t know if people always lie, Peyton, but I know Dan does! Yeah, that’s a shot of Dan’s burn scars. It’s not connected to anything with Peyton, just thought it made these slides seem more interesting. Yep.

Haley walks into the apartment and sees the wall. She flashes back to a conversation she had with Nathan the night of the fire. Even though he delivered such heart shattering blows, Nathan went to check on Haley to see if she had everything she needed. OMG, he’s like OBSESSED with her! She says it’s weird to be staying there she can go stay at Peyton’s or Luke’s. Nathan says that she should stay doesn’t matter. She invokes his speed incident and reminds him about how if he had a second chance he would do things differently. She said she promised herself too [Even though technically, in the grand scheme of things, she didn’t really make a mistake, especially on the level of taking speed. I mean, dude, is Saved By the Bell not syndicated on some channel in Tree Hill?] that if she could get him to listen she would tell him that he’s the best part of her life. He says she can’t say that after months of silence. She didn’t even call him after he left and she signed the Annulment papers [umm…]. She says he initiated those papers and she did call and she had to call the answering machine because she knew he would just hang up on her. He says he deleted her. Once again, Haley dies a little inside, but she tells him that in the message she said she was being childish and stubborn and fighting back at his ultimatum for all the wrong reasons. Ugh. Innyway, back in the present Brooke walks in and they have a quick chat about dum dum and Brooke kicks her out because she’s rented the place for herself. I’m confused with Haley though that after three months the landlord didn’t restore the wall. Or did the rent take 3 months to run out and Brooke requested the wall stay as is? Idk, Nonsensical Town! Omg, wait, Haley’s homeless! Sad face. So, as OBSESSED as I am with Naley, they are like a broken record right now, so feast your eyes on the hotness that is Dan looking in the mirror and playing with fire!
image
And so it begins. One Tree Hill, now brought to you by Sunkist. Face Part is bringing all of Brooke’s stuff into the apartment. Erica broke up with him. Ugh, regular status and he’s still so pointless! He’ll NEVER be considered core. There is only one Core 5. Peyton comes in and she and Brooke talk about Haley. Brooke wants to paint over the wall now that Haley’s back, it’s going to be a party place for ALL of them. Peyton says the wall should stay as is. They have a back and forthsies about whether or not Haley is a bad person for leaving. Brooke can kind of see it from Haley’s perspective and ultimately tells Peyton that Haley’s probably having a hard time too so maybe they should help her whether or not Haley is to blame. Look, Peyton got a haircut. No more curls. It’s kinda cute. I like it!
image
Lucas is shooting some hoops at the River Court. His heart starts to hurt and he remembers being down to his last pill and squint furrowing. Haley walks up behind him  and asks if he’s ok. He says it depends on if she’s home for good. She says or bad and he’s relieved and happy to see her. He gives her a big hug and then Haley is cutely grossed out because he is really sweaty. I just love their friendship and I’m glad SOMEONE is happy to see her!
image
Peyton is in Gloom Town and sees the hateful drawing she made while sitting at her mother’s grave. She flashes back to her dad deciding to parent. He tells her a story about how much her mother loved her and she NEVER lied to her. They were going to tell her she was adopted, but then her mom died and he thought it would make things harder. He also says that Ellie doesn’t change who Peyton’s mom is. And that she can be mad at him for not telling her, but not her mom. He gives her back the drawing and says, “Don’t you dare.” He walks away. That was actually a good talk.

Karen and Deb are Happy to see each other. The cafe has been redecorated with some scary stuff! Karen says it’s going to take a little getting used to. They chat about how Deb is miserable and Andy isn’t back yet and neither one of them has heard from Keith. Haley and Lucas walk in and Karen is happy to see Haley. I’m glad somebody else is! Haley is there to ask for her job back. Deb says she asked Haley to stop by and ask Karen. Of course she can have her job back, Karen has no real intention of ACTUALLY running the Cafe. These last few months without Haley were really hard, I’m sure. She starts right away and sees the piano. She flashes back to her playing for the first time for Nathan. They play the whole song throughout some more scenes. She tells Lucas about that night and he asks if she’s heard from Nathan. She says he never picked up, but she wrote letters. Hmmm…

image
Nathan is doing well at High Flyers. We flash back to the night of the fire. Because Haley is OBSESSED with him she goes to his room to talk. He says stuff to her like how part of him wants to find the right words to hurt her the way she’s hurt him. She tells him that she is hurting, but doesn’t add that he’s made plenty sure of that. He doesn’t buy it and then brings up how she kissed Chris Keller and turned her back on their relationship. Blah blah blah, scratch scratch scratch. She whisper invokes Always and Forever. He acts confused and she starts to walk away. He says her name and she goes back and jumps on him and they hug and kiss and then he rejects her. He’s kinda mean. She says she understands if he no longer loves her. She’s about to leave again when he takes his turn invoking Always and Forever. He says he still does love her and always will, he just doesn’t trust her and that’s what sucks. Nathan, right now, you suck.

Dan is still going though Nathan’s stuff looking for the papers. Deb comes in and hands him and envelope. He opens it to find that it is their Divorce papers. She says he’s recovered and she’s recovered But their marriage never will. He gets all weird and then says cool and goes for a walk. Haley is working at the Cafe and Brooke comes in and says to bring her stuff to the apartment after work. Haley’s confused. Brooke says she could use the rent money so she has some spending money for a new fall wardrobe.

Lucas and Peyton are walking on the boardwalk talking. He says he can’t get used to her hair. She says it’s better than his Spring cut. She says Ellie had the whole long hair thing going and she doesn’t want to look anything like her. Eye roll. Peyton, she also had the whole STRAIGHT hair thing going. Dum dum. Lucas asks if Ellie has tried contacting her again or if she’s still getting strange emails. Peyton says no to both. Lucas says he met Ellie once before he even knew who she was and that he’s seen her around town again. Dun dun dun.

image

Back at High Flyers, Nathan is in the locker room. His buddy asks if he’s going to the party later. Nathan doesn’t know. His friend also advises that he should take it easy, he can’t get it all back at once. Idk. Nathan has the letter that came for him. Whatever it says it reminds him of the Annulment papers. Haley didn’t actually sign them, she wrote, “I love you…”

image

Haley walks into the apartment and sees that Peyton has put a frame around it that says Love at the top. This is her life now. Brooke walks over to her and says she has room but no pity, Haley did what she did and can’t change it, take it or leave it. Haley takes it. She’s no longer homeless! There must’ve been a focus group that pinpointed these two as audience favorites so they stuck them in a room together. Works for me!

Ok, Dan is crazy! He walked all the way to a church to go confess sins he hasn’t actually committed yet. He tells the priest that he does remember seeing someone in the fire there to kill him. He says he’s going to piece it all together. As he talks flashes are shown of Jules, Andy, Lucas, Deb, Karen, Keith, and Haley as possible people that would totes want him dead. You know, people he’s actually committed some sins against. But that’s neither here nor there to him. Seriously, Dan, if you can make a list, maybe you ain’t livin’ right. He tells the preist that the sins he commits next are going to turn the world to rubble or some such. No, the priest cannot tell the nonexistent Tree Hill authorities that a man has come in and threatened lives. Such is the Confessional.

Lucas meets Brooke at the beach. They think their casual dating is going to work. Lucas does not seem as convinced as before. They kiss and she takes a selfie of them for her Summer Vacation board she has in her room.

Ok, so I remember this episode most for what Peyton paints on her wall. And then how her voiceover ends. It’s cheesey good. Loves it!

Peyton VO: At this moment, there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world. Some are running scared (Brooke). Some are coming home (Haley). Some tell lies to make it through the day (Deb). Others are just now facing the truth (Peyton). Some are evil men at war with good (Dan). And some are good struggling with evil (Lucas). 6 billion people in the world. 6 billion souls. And sometimes all you need is one (Nathan putting on a chain with is ring on it).

And then the one pops out and roll credits.

Until next time…tooda loos!
